The following is a compilation of statistics concerning the nightmarish and startling imprint illegal aliens have ravaged upon the state of California, and this is only one state. More alarming is that George Bush insists on amnesty for the entire lot of law-breakers. The Democrats are no better. So it looks like the states, the minutemen, local militias, vigilantes, or maybe even the “Crips” and the “Bloods” will have to take up the slack in what can only be described as a reckless and pitiful effort by the Bush Administration in stemming the tide of an ocean of immigrants flowing illegally into the United States. Money-wise, how does this effect Los Angeles County. 40% off all workers in L.A. County - which has 10.2 million people - are working for cash and not paying taxes. This is because they are predominantly illegal immigrants working without green cards. How does that make one feel when they learn that these huge amounts of prospective state revenues are not going into a FICA account along with yours? A fact that very few Californians know is that 95% of all murder warrants issued in Los Angeles County and 75% of felons on L.A.’s most wanted list are illegal aliens. Continuing along criminal lines, nearly 35% of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nationals here illegally and 29% of inmates in federal prisons are illegal aliens. More good news is that the FBI reports half of all gang members in Los Angeles are most likely illegal aliens from south of the border. The embarrassing and unforgivable statistics do not stop with criminals. On the domestic side, over 2/3 of all births in Los Angeles County are Mexican illegal aliens on Medi-Cal whose births were paid for by hardworking taxpayers. Does that make you feel all warm and fuzzy? Does it bother home grown Californians that nearly 60% of all occupants of HUD properties are illegal aliens and that over 300,000 law-breaking encroachers in L.A. County are living in garages? Do the citizens of California realize that there are a twenty-one Spanish speaking radio stations in L.A.? They need all those station based on the fact that out of the 10.2 million residents of L.A. County, almost four million speak Spanish. Let’s address the myth of the illegal migrant worker. Less than two percent of Mexican illegals are picking our crops but 29% are on welfare. The inequities created by the overwhelming number of law-breakers in California are alarming, but one of the most frightening statistics involves the entire country. Over 70% of the United States’ annual population growth and over 90% of the states of California, Florida, Texas, and New York are the results of legal and illegal immigration. How can this country survive under an avalanche of lawbreaking illegal aliens? Which truck has a dirty nuke as its payload, which Muslim Mexican look alike is the brains behind a terrorist organization? Without totally secure borders, it’s tantamount to searching for the proverbial needle in the haystack. Even considering that George Bush doesn’t have the corner on the brain market, no one, especially the President of the United States can be that stupid. The only option that leaves us to believe is that Mr. Bush is bought and paid for. Shock of shocks! Oh, I see said the blind-man. Folks, this ain’t the first time that politicians have greased their palms with dirty money, but it’s time to put the politicians that do not have the backbone on a permanent vacation and without retirement benefits. Oh, I forgot. Those guys have already drawn their retirement and it rests cozily in an offshore bank account. Little Waco, Big Waco…Which Do You Prefer? It’s nice to see Waco City Government applaud future industry expansion to the area. Everyone went gah gah over the announcement of Sanderson Farms planned moved to Waco. New jobs here! New jobs there, new jobs everywhere! Prosperity rules! Why not another chicken plant? Since the dog and pony show, for some reason, the plan has been forestalled. Oh my, surely we haven’t run out of the tasty fowl. Recently a friend complained about rush hour traffic in our fair city. Of course, recently moving here from Austin, I asked him, “Are you okay,” hoping he wasn’t having a heat stroke followed by hallucinations. Then I remembered the horror of having to sit through one red light cycle on Waco Drive and Valley Mills. Really Rough stuff. Then I recollected one pleasant afternoon in Austin being stuck and stranded for 2 ½ hours at 1:00 P.M. on a Friday with a grumpy old lady and a fourteen month old infant. Piece of cake. Ask yourself if one “stinky” chicken processing plant will improve the quality of life in Central Texas. Ask yourself, if another McDonalds or Taco Bell will vastly improve the quality of life in our area. Ask yourself if life threatening gridlock and intolerable congestion will improve the quality of life in Waco, Texas. Let’s see; the last time I looked, Waco had an abundance of the amenities that any large city In Texas could provide; a beautiful lake, great shopping, fine restaurants, a wonderful zoo, excellent grocery stores, the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame, and other first rate attractions. Well, maybe that’s not enough. Waco is not inundated with so called “escort services” or an over abundance of topless joints. Good reason to leave and move to Austin, city that offers an abundance of both. When I was a kid growing up, Waco was the same size as Austin. A few ruling families were able to stifle growth and squash unwanted industry so they could horde all the entrepreneurial spoils for themselves. Remember; beware of what you wish for, you just may get it. Where is that greedy bunch of capitalists when we need them the most? Robert Bernard Racism or Natural Phenomenon I’m sure all of us, from time to time, mull over the issue of racism in this country, and I am sure that deep down inside, we feel at least a twinge of bias although we do everything conceivable to mask the duality of our inner psyche with our hygienic outward demeanor. I strongly believe that what we are feeling is a very natural occurrence. Ask yourself, as a Caucasian: Do you have or have you ever had the inclination to pursue a serious relationship with a Black person, a Latino, an Asian, or an individual of Indian descent – or vice versa. Chances are you have not. We all know there are exceptions when opposites attract and it’s not just based on the color of ones’ skin. Other than some recognizable physical attributes the color of a Black man’s skin is due to the pigment melanin, mostly derived from being half-clothed in the hot sun for thousands of years. Notice the lily white palms of a Black person’s hands - i.e. less exposure to the sun. Maury Povich, TV human interest show host for lack of a better phrase, for years made his living presenting freak shows on the tube. 500 pound man falls for forty pound dwarf, nineteen year-old Black man matches up with eighty year-old Caucasian grandma. You get the picture. After giving this much thought, I remembered my anthropology class at the University of Texas. Our class textbook was “The Origin of the Species,” by Dr. L.S.B. Leakey, a famed anthropologist who sponsored Dianne Fosse in the feature film “Gorillas in the Mist.” Leakey suggests that the color a person’s skin and his physical features had to do with geographical barriers of separation that were present in the development of the human species, and that those barriers allowed the different human sects to physically and mentally develop independent of the others. I believe the big three human classifications in the book are Negroid, Caucasoid, and Mongoloid. I also buy Leakey’s suggested evolutionary sects and why we prefer our personal relationships to fall within those sects, and right on down the line. Based on his evolutionary conclusions we should not feel guilty or racist if we have certain feelings of rejection for other races. I also believe that Leakey’s takes into account why we also reject some of the other races’ traditions, rituals, or values. That doesn’t mean we, as people of different races, can’t neutralize those inner feelings, but practices such as “Rap music” and marching in the streets with Mexican flags will not get it done. There is only one sure cure for racism and that cure is education. The problem with that is, our teacher’s power to discipline students up to the high school level is practically nonexistent and the absence of religion doesn’t help either. I also believe that political correctness has gone way past its boundaries within our schools. Recently a school district in New England began referring to failing grades as “deferred success.” That’s so ridiculous. A child cannot appreciate success without experiencing failure and unless the education of our children improves, racism will continue to exist. |
